#FPFestival part 2

For my 2nd festival look with FREE PEOPLE, I chose this amazing slip.  Its so airy and flowy and has ties down the side and an open back so you can see my FP strappy bralette peeking through (another fave!)  this airy beauty is sure to keep you feelin' and lookin' cool all day.  I also loved transitioning this piece to night by throwing on a leather jacket and boots.  It can be worn so many ways, and it is SO unique (comes in a TON of different colors, too!)

my armadio

It's no secret that i LOVE bags.  i have WAY too many that I am proud to admit.  Only problem is, designer bags are PRICEY.  Did you ever wish you could find that same high-end quality you see in designer bags, but at a reasonable price?  Thats exactly what I found with ARMADIO.  Each ARMADIO bag comes directly from the workshops of the same artisans that craft for the big name fashion brands! They use a direct to consumer model with no middlemen, giving US luxury quality at up to 70% less then retail.  Finally the same quality (and AMAZINGLY soft leather) at a price we can afford!  This pink tote that I scored from ARMADIO is AMAZING, its the softest leather ive ever felt, and the color is perfect for spring.  It paired perfectly with these new white jeans im tryin' out and my fave Bed Stu oxfords!

The Pearl Hotel - San Diego

We arrived at The Pearl Hotel in San Diego, and immediately thought, OMG - this is the cutest little place! It looked like it was right out of a 70's movie set.  When you walk in, you're immediately walking through this awesome open air bar, which overlooks a pool, complete with a huge swan floatie. UM YES?! Unfortunately it wasn't quite warm enough to go for a dip, but we will just have to go back when it is!

We got to our room which was right off the pool, and it was so cute, we had our own little private patio which was the highlight for me!

We decided to stay at the hotel for dinner, which was a great idea. They play MOVIES. OUTSIDE. while you are eating overlooking the pool.  They call it a DIVE IN; get it?! I mean, it was just AWESOME.

Being from New York, I had never experienced anything like this! it was SO retro, and we were just totally diggin' the vibes all around.   We both ordered the Gnocchi, which was SO good, we devoured it before I could remember to take a photo. oops! But following the Gnocci, we ordered the Pearl Beignets which came piping hot and covered in powdered sugar complete with melted chocolate to dip in.  It was THE perfect snack since it was chilly out, they totally warmed me up. and damn, they were GOOD.

The next morning we decided to check out the Groove Brunch, (yeah I know, dinner AND brunch at the hotel, I mean, it was THAT good we just didn't wanna leave! We got to sit by the pool and enjoy amazing views and food before checking out.  I had some epic granola & fresh fruit (which by the way, since returning to New York, NO FRUIT tastes good anymore, California fruit is in a league of its own!)

After that we had to check out, boo hoo, but they give you a link of all their fave spots around town to check out, so thats exactly what we did!  We explored around Point Loma, a bit first.  We loved the hills and the little homes and the harbor, and of course the view of the city skyline!

Then we headed over to Cabrillo National Monument to check out the views and tide pools. It was absolutely amazing.  I have never seen anything like this place.  It was truly paradise!

Well guys, its official.  I'm in love. With a City. Called San Diego.  I left kicking and screaming, and already dying to come back.  Til next time, my love!

carousel

this shoot was not planned. we were frolicking around brooklyn and it was SO hot. Jill saw this carousel in the middle of Brooklyn Bridge Park, and was like - LETS GET ON! So obviously I complied.  Who doesn't LOVE a good carousel? We rode it and shot pictures and had the best time. some of the best things come out of unplanned spur of the moment outings, don't ya think?

San Diego - The U.S. Grant Hotel

When we were planning our trip to San Diego, I was VERY set on staying in the downtown area.  I am from New York, and I just really wanted that city vibe. When we decided on the U.S. Grant, I thought, this is just PERFECT.  From the photos and maps I was looking up I could see it was right in the heart of the city and had palm trees outside, that was PERFECT to me. CITY AND PALM TREES?! Does it get any better?! We arrived at the U.S. Grant and it looked even more beautiful in person!

From the moment you step inside, you can tell this hotel is rich in history, which it sure is! Built in 1910, this is truly a historic site in the middle of the wonderful Gaslamp Quarter of Downtown San Diego.

We got into our INCREDIBLE room, to which upon entering I exclaimed "THIS BATHROOM IS BIGGER THAN OUR ENTIRE NYC APARTMENT!" Which wasn't too far exaggerated by any means! I immediately tested out the bed, which was HUGE and SO COMFY.  Another really cool thing was the unique artwork above each bed. (more to come on that!)

Downtown San Diego was such a beautiful place to explore.  It gave me the NYC vibes I was hoping for, mixed with rich history, culture and of course, PALM TREES.

Aside from the incredible room, I think our favorite part of the U.S. Grant Hotel was the GRANT GRILL, the restaurant inside the hotel.

Pictured here is the BEST Manhattan EVER. No joke. Their whiskey is aged in oak barrels for 100 days - it was simply BEYOND!  We started with some drinks, and then went on to have the most delicious meal we have ever had!

The bread was absolutely to die for, in fact we were told entire blogs are written just about this amazing bread.  It took EVERYTHING I had to not eat the entire thing. We got the scallops (SO GOOD!) and the duck (YUMMMY!) Everything was absolute perfection.  I wanted everything on the menu, of course, but we will just have to make it back here again...and again...and again...

On our last night at the U.S. Grant, we decided to just relax in our amazing room after dinner - we were treated to some chocolate covered strawberries and some coloring books (WHICH ARE MY FAVORITE) showcasing the unique art that is above each bed at the Grant.  All with colored pencils to create colorful relaxing magic before bed.

We had the most incredible weekend at The U.S. Grant Hotel, we fell in LOVE with Downtown San Diego and had the most incredible time relaxing in our amazing room, exploring the city and creating memories that will last a lifetime!

We are anxiously awaiting another San Diego trip, and hope that we can return to SO SOON.  If you are traveling to San Diego, we HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend staying at the U.S Grant, and having a meal at the Grant Grill.  We promise, you will thank us!

(also from Free people, of course) these boots go with EVERYTHING and for me, whos always cold, they are great to wear with little dresses and rompers to still keep your legs cozy!
